The CAN error message frames (i.e. error skb) are an interface specific to socket CAN. The payload of the CAN error message frames does not correspond to any actual data sent on the wire. Only an error flag and a delimiter are transmitted when an error occurs (c.f. ISO 11898-1 section 10.4.4.2 "Error flag"). For this reason, it makes no sense to increment the rx_packets and rx_bytes fields of struct net_device_stats because no actual payload were transmitted on the wire. This patch fixes all the CAN drivers. There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
