Per PCIe r3.1, sec 2.2.6.2 and 7.8.4, a Requester may not use 8-bit Tags unless its Extended Tag Field Enable is set, but all Receivers/Completers must handle 8-bit Tags correctly regardless of their Extended Tag Field Enable. Some devices do not handle 8-bit Tags as Completers, so add a quirk for them. If we find such a device, we disable Extended Tags for the entire hierarchy to make peer-to-peer DMA possible. The Broadcom HT1100/HT2000/HT2100 seems to have issues with handling 8-bit tags. Mark it as broken. Linux kernel

There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
