An additional testcase found an issue with the last
series of patches applied: the fallback solution may
not save the iv value after operation. This very small
fix just makes sure the iv is copied back to the

87c00572ba kvm: x86: emulate monitor and mwait instructions as nop
Treat monitor and mwait instructions as nop, which is architecturally
correct (but inefficient) behavior. We do this to prevent misbehaving
guests (e.g. OS X <= 10.7) from crashing after they fail to check for
monitor/mwait availability via cpuid.

Since mwait-based idle loops relying on these nop-emulated instructions
would keep the host CPU pegged at 100%, do NOT advertise their presence
via cpuid, to prevent compliant guests from using them inadvertently.

8058bd0faa tracepoint: Fix use of tracepoint funcs after rcu free
Commit de7b297390 "tracepoint: Use struct pointer instead of name hash
for reg/unreg tracepoints" introduces a use after free by calling
release_probes on the old struct tracepoint array before the newly
allocated array is published with rcu_assign_pointer. There is a race
window where tracepoints (RCU readers) can perform a
"use-after-grace-period-after-free", which shows up as a GPF in
stress-tests.

098507ae3e trace: module: Maintain a valid user count
The replacement of the 'count' variable by two variables 'incs' and
'decs' to resolve some race conditions during module unloading was done
in parallel with some cleanup in the trace subsystem, and was integrated
as a merge.

Unfortunately, the formula for this replacement was wrong in the tracing
code, and the refcount in the traces was not usable as a result.

Use 'count = incs - decs' to compute the user count.

0b9d46dd7d ACPI / processor: do not mark present at boot but not onlined CPU as onlined
acpi_processor_add() assumes that present at boot CPUs
are always onlined, it is not so if a CPU failed to become
onlined. As result acpi_processor_add() will mark such CPU
device as onlined in sysfs and following attempts to
online/offline it using /sys/device/system/cpu/cpuX/online
attribute will fail.

Do not poke into device internals in acpi_processor_add()
and touch "struct device { .offline }" attribute, since
for CPUs onlined at boot it's set by:
  topology_init() -> arch_register_cpu() -> register_cpu()
before ACPI device tree is parsed, and for hotplugged
CPUs it's set when userspace onlines CPU via sysfs.

98fcc5762d mmc: rtsx: Revert "mmc: rtsx: add support for pre_req and post_req"
This reverts commit c42deffd5b.

commit <mmc: rtsx: add support for pre_req and post_req> did use
mutex_unlock() in tasklet, but mutex_unlock() can't be used in
tasklet(atomic context). The driver needs to use mutex to avoid
concurrency, so we can't use tasklet here, the patch need to be
removed.

The spinlock host->lock and pcr->lock may deadlock, one way to solve
the deadlock is remove host->lock in sd_isr_done_transfer(), but if
using workqueue the we can avoid using the spinlock and also avoid
the problem.

c444117f0f sched/idle: Delay clearing the polling bit
With the generic idle functions assuming !polling we should only clear
the polling bit at the very last opportunity in order to avoid
spurious IPIs.

Ideally we'd flip the default to polling, but that means auditing all
arch idle functions.

fd99f91aa0 sched/idle: Avoid spurious wakeup IPIs
Because mwait_idle_with_hints() gets called from !idle context it must
call current_clr_polling(). This however means that resched_task() is
very likely to send an IPI even when we were polling:

So while it is correct (extra IPIs aren't a problem, whereas a missed
IPI would be) it is a performance problem (for some).

Avoid this issue by using fetch_or() to atomically set NEED_RESCHED
and test if POLLING_NRFLAG is set.

Since a CPU stuck in mwait is unlikely to modify the flags word,
contention on the cmpxchg is unlikely and thus we should mostly
succeed in a single go.

Standardize the idle polling indicator to TIF_POLLING_NRFLAG such that
both TIF_NEED_RESCHED and TIF_POLLING_NRFLAG are in the same word.
This will allow us, using fetch_or(), to both set NEED_RESCHED and
check for POLLING_NRFLAG in a single operation and avoid pointless
wakeups.

Changing from the non-atomic thread_info::status flags to the atomic
thread_info::flags shouldn't be a big issue since most polling state
changes were followed/preceded by a full memory barrier anyway.

Also, fix up the apm_32 idle function, clearly that was forgotten in
the last conversion. The default idle state is !POLLING so just kill
the lot.

f6e6e1b9fe ACPI / blacklist: Add dmi_enable_osi_linux quirk for Asus EEE PC 1015PX
Without this this EEE PC exports a non working WMI interface, with this it
exports a working "good old" eeepc_laptop interface, fixing brightness control
not working as well as rfkill being stuck in a permanent wireless blocked
state.

This is not an ideal way to fix this, but various attempts to fix this
otherwise have failed, see:

With win8 capabiltiy, the machine will boot itself immediately after
shutdown command has executed.

Work around this issue by disabling win8 capcability.  This workaround

23a456f053 net: mdio: of_mdiobus_register(): fall back to mdiobus_register() for !CONFIG_OF
If CONFIG_OF is not set, make of_mdiobus_register() call
mdiobus_register() instead of returning -ENOSYS.

This way, we can just call of_mdiobus_register() from all DT-enabled
drivers to handle the compat cases.

14262d67fe x86-64, build: Fix stack protector Makefile breakage with 32-bit userland
If you are using a 64-bit kernel with 32-bit userland, then
scripts/gcc-x86_64-has-stack-protector.sh invokes 32-bit gcc
with -mcmodel=kernel, which produces:

<stdin>:1:0: error: code model 'kernel' not supported in the 32 bit mode

and trips the "broken compiler" test at arch/x86/Makefile:120.

There are several places a fix is possible, but the following seems
cleanest.  (But it's minimal; it would also be possible to factor
out a bunch of stuff from the two branches of the if.)

Do not set netdev->real_num_tx_queues directly,
let netif_set_real_num_tx_queues() take care of it.
Do not overwrite netdev->num_tx_queues everytime when driver
changes its Tx ring size through ethtool -L and also notify
stack to update number of Rx queues.
