3a2eba9bd0 spi: Provide core support for full duplex devices
It is fairly common for SPI devices to require that one or both transfer
directions is always active. Currently drivers open code this in various
ways with varying degrees of efficiency. Start factoring this out by
providing flags SPI_MASTER_MUST_TX and SPI_MASTER_MUST_RX. These will cause
the core to provide buffers for the requested direction if none are
specified in the underlying transfer.

Currently this is fairly inefficient since we actually allocate a data
buffer which may get large, support for mapping transfers using a
scatterlist will allow us to avoid this for DMA based transfers.

99adef310f spi: Provide core support for DMA mapping transfers
The process of DMA mapping buffers for SPI transfers does not vary between
devices so in order to save duplication of code in drivers this can be
factored out into the core, allowing it to be integrated with the work that
is being done on factoring out the common elements from the data path
including more sharing of dmaengine code.

In order to use this masters need to provide a can_dma() operation and while
the hardware is prepared they should ensure that DMA channels are provided
in tx_dma and rx_dma. The core will then ensure that the buffers are mapped
for DMA prior to calling transfer_one_message().

Currently the cleanup on error is not complete, this needs to be improved.

81993e81a9 compat: Get rid of (get|put)_compat_time(val|spec)
We have two APIs for compatiblity timespec/val, with confusingly
similar names. compat_(get|put)_time(val|spec) *do* handle the case
where COMPAT_USE_64BIT_TIME is set, whereas
(get|put)_compat_time(val|spec) do not. This is an accident waiting
to happen.

Clean it up by favoring the full-service version; the limited version
is replaced with double-underscore versions static to kernel/compat.c.

A common pattern is to convert a struct timespec to kernel format in
an allocation on the user stack. Unfortunately it is open-coded in
several places. Since this allocation isn't actually needed if
COMPAT_USE_64BIT_TIME is true (since user format == kernel format)
encapsulate that whole pattern into the function
compat_convert_timespec(). An equivalent function should be written
for struct timeval if it is needed in the future.

Finally, get rid of compat_(get|put)_timeval_convert(): each was only
used once, and the latter was not even doing what the function said
(no conversion actually was being done.) Moving the conversion into
compat_sys_settimeofday() itself makes the code much more similar to
sys_settimeofday() itself.

v3: Remove unused compat_convert_timeval().

v2: Drop bogus "const" in the destination argument for
    compat_convert_time*().

nfs41_wake_and_assign_slot() relies on the task->tk_msg.rpc_argp and

at best, ambiguous. Is that order-1? Or (order-2 bytes)? Make
it more clear.

SLOB commits a similar sin. It *handles* page-size requests, but the
comment says that it passes up "all page size and larger requests".

SLOB also swaps around the order of the very-similarly-named
KMALLOC_SHIFT_HIGH and KMALLOC_SHIFT_MAX #defines. Make it
consistent with the order of the other two allocators.

support for the new Broadcom/Netlogix XLP9xx Soc, building a common
BCM63XX SMP kernel for all BCM63XX SoCs regardless of core type/count
and full gpio button/led descriptions for BCM47xx.

The rest of the series are cleanups and bug fixes that are MIPS

bcf1647d08 zsmalloc: move it under mm
This patch moves zsmalloc under mm directory.

Before that, description will explain why we have needed custom
allocator.

Zsmalloc is a new slab-based memory allocator for storing compressed
pages. It is designed for low fragmentation and high allocation success
rate on large object, but <= PAGE_SIZE allocations.

zsmalloc differs from the kernel slab allocator in two primary ways to
achieve these design goals.

zsmalloc never requires high order page allocations to back slabs, or
"size classes" in zsmalloc terms. Instead it allows multiple
single-order pages to be stitched together into a "zspage" which backs
the slab. This allows for higher allocation success rate under memory
pressure.

Also, zsmalloc allows objects to span page boundaries within the zspage.
This allows for lower fragmentation than could be had with the kernel
slab allocator for objects between PAGE_SIZE/2 and PAGE_SIZE. With the
kernel slab allocator, if a page compresses to 60% of it original size,
the memory savings gained through compression is lost in fragmentation
because another object of the same size can't be stored in the leftover
space.

This ability to span pages results in zsmalloc allocations not being
directly addressable by the user. The user is given an
non-dereferencable handle in response to an allocation request. That
handle must be mapped, using zs_map_object(), which returns a pointer to
the mapped region that can be used. The mapping is necessary since the
object data may reside in two different noncontigious pages.

The zsmalloc fulfills the allocation needs for zram perfectly

Now we have memblock_virt_alloc_low to replace original bootmem api in

0ae89beb28 can: add destructor for self generated skbs
Self generated skbuffs in net/can/bcm.c are setting a skb->sk reference but
no explicit destructor which is enforced since Linux 3.11 with commit
376c7311bd (net: add a temporary sanity check in skb_orphan()).

This patch adds some helper functions to make sure that a destructor is
properly defined when a sock reference is assigned to a CAN related skb.
To create an unshared skb owned by the original sock a common helper function
has been introduced to replace open coded functions to create CAN echo skbs.

f0276924fa blk-mq: Don't reserve a tag for flush request
Reserving a tag (request) for flush to avoid dead lock is a overkill. A
tag is valuable resource. We can track the number of flush requests and
disallow having too many pending flush requests allocated. With this
patch, blk_mq_alloc_request_pinned() could do a busy nop (but not a dead
loop) if too many pending requests are allocated and new flush request
is allocated. But this should not be a problem, too many pending flush
requests are very rare case.

I verified this can fix the deadlock caused by too many pending flush
requests.

ca2a650f3d Merge branch 'for-linus' of git://git.infradead.org/users/vkoul/slave-dma
Pull slave-dma updates from Vinod Koul:
 - new driver for BCM2835 used in R-pi
 - new driver for MOXA ART
 - dma_get_any_slave_channel API for DT based systems
 - minor fixes and updates spread acrooss driver

[ The fsl-ssi dual fifo mode support addition clashed badly with the
other changes to fsl-ssi that came in through the sound merge. I did
a very rough cut at fixing up the conflict, but Nicolin Chen (author
of both sides) will need to verify and check things ]

d8d14bd09c fs/compat: fix lookup_dcookie() parameter handling
Commit d5dc77bfee ("consolidate compat lookup_dcookie()") coverted all
architectures to the new compat_sys_lookup_dcookie() syscall.

The "len" paramater of the new compat syscall must have the type
compat_size_t in order to enforce zero extension for architectures where
the ABI requires that the caller of a function performed zero and/or
sign extension to 64 bit of all parameters.

dfd948e32a fs/compat: fix parameter handling for compat readv/writev syscalls
We got a report that the pwritev syscall does not work correctly in
compat mode on s390.

It turned out that with commit 72ec35163f ("switch compat readv/writev
variants to COMPAT_SYSCALL_DEFINE") we lost the zero extension of a
couple of syscall parameters because the some parameter types haven't
been converted from unsigned long to compat_ulong_t.

This is needed for architectures where the ABI requires that the caller
of a function performed zero and/or sign extension to 64 bit of all
parameters.
