472a61e777 pinctrl/gpio: Take MUX usage into account
The user space like gpioinfo only see the GPIO usage but not the
MUX usage (e.g. I2C or SPI usage) of a pin. As a user we want
to know which pin is free/safe to use. So take the MUX usage of
strict pinmux controllers into account to get a more realistic
view for ioctl GPIO_GET_LINEINFO_IOCTL.

0a84596932 fbdev: drop res_id parameter from remove_conflicting_pci_framebuffers
Since commit b0e999c955 ("fbdev: list all pci memory bars as

only, to make sure we detect any issues with the new approach to just
list all memory bars as apertures.

No issues turned up so far, so continue to cleanup: Drop the res_id
parameter, drop the sanity checks. Also downgrade the logging from
"info" level to "debug" level and update documentation.

395713d8ca soundwire: intel: handle disabled links
On most hardware platforms, SoundWire interfaces are pin-muxed with
other interfaces (typically DMIC or I2S) and the status of each link
needs to be checked at boot time.

For Intel platforms, the BIOS provides a menu to enable/disable the
links separately, and the information is provided to the OS with an
Intel-specific _DSD property. The same capability will be added to
revisions of the MIPI DisCo specification.

b99328a60a timekeeping/vsyscall: Prevent math overflow in BOOTTIME update
The VDSO update for CLOCK_BOOTTIME has a overflow issue as it shifts the
nanoseconds based boot time offset left by the clocksource shift. That
overflows once the boot time offset becomes large enough. As a consequence
CLOCK_BOOTTIME in the VDSO becomes a random number causing applications to
misbehave.

Fix it by storing a timespec64 representation of the offset when boot time
is adjusted and add that to the MONOTONIC base time value in the vdso data
page. Using the timespec64 representation avoids a 64bit division in the
update code.

cdfee56232 driver core: initialize a default DMA mask for platform device
We still treat devices without a DMA mask as defaulting to 32-bits for
both mask, but a few releases ago we've started warning about such
cases, as they require special cases to work around this sloppyness.
Add a dma_mask field to struct platform_device so that we can initialize
the dma_mask pointer in struct device and initialize both masks to
32-bits by default, replacing similar functionality in m68k and
powerpc. The arch_setup_pdev_archdata hooks is now unused and removed.

Note that the code looks a little odd with the various conditionals
because we have to support platform_device structures that are
statically allocated.

87175120de net/mlx5: Add HV VHCA infrastructure
HV VHCA is a layer which provides PF to VF communication channel based on
HyperV PCI config channel. It implements Mellanox's Inter VHCA control
communication protocol. The protocol contains control block in order to
pass messages between the PF and VF drivers, and data blocks in order to
pass actual data.

The infrastructure is agent based. Each agent will be responsible of
contiguous buffer blocks in the VHCA config space. This infrastructure will
bind agents to their blocks, and those agents can only access read/write
the buffer blocks assigned to them. Each agent will provide three
callbacks (control, invalidate, cleanup). Control will be invoked when
block-0 is invalidated with a command that concerns this agent. Invalidate
callback will be invoked if one of the blocks assigned to this agent was
invalidated. Cleanup will be invoked before the agent is being freed in
order to clean all of its open resources or deferred works.

Block-0 serves as the control block. All execution commands from the PF
will be written by the PF over this block. VF will ack on those by
writing on block-0 as well. Its format is described by struct
mlx5_hv_vhca_control_block layout.

e5d2f910cf PCI: hv: Add a paravirtual backchannel in software
Windows SR-IOV provides a backchannel mechanism in software for communication
between a VF driver and a PF driver. These "configuration blocks" are
similar in concept to PCI configuration space, but instead of doing reads and
writes in 32-bit chunks through a very slow path, packets of up to 128 bytes
can be sent or received asynchronously.

Nearly every SR-IOV device contains just such a communications channel in
hardware, so using this one in software is usually optional. Using the
software channel, however, allows driver implementers to leverage software
tools that fuzz the communications channel looking for vulnerabilities.

The usage model for these packets puts the responsibility for reading or
writing on the VF driver. The VF driver sends a read or a write packet,
indicating which "block" is being referred to by number.

If the PF driver wishes to initiate communication, it can "invalidate" one or
more of the first 64 blocks. This invalidation is delivered via a callback
supplied by the VF driver by this driver.

No protocol is implied, except that supplied by the PF and VF drivers.

7b81cb6bdd usb: add a HCD_DMA flag instead of guestimating DMA capabilities
The usb core is the only major place in the kernel that checks for
a non-NULL device dma_mask to see if a device is DMA capable. This
is generally a bad idea, as all major busses always set up a DMA mask,
even if the device is not DMA capable - in fact bus layers like PCI
can't even know if a device is DMA capable at enumeration time. This
leads to lots of workaround in HCD drivers, and also prevented us from
setting up a DMA mask for platform devices by default last time we
tried.

Replace this guess with an explicit HCD_DMA that is set by drivers that
appear to have DMA support.

c3082a674f PM: QoS: Get rid of unused flags
The network_latency and network_throughput flags for PM-QoS have not
found much use in drivers or in userspace since they were introduced.

Commit 4a733ef1be ("mac80211: remove PM-QoS listener") removed the
only user PM_QOS_NETWORK_LATENCY in the kernel a while ago and there
don't seem to be any userspace tools using the character device files
either.

PM_QOS_MEMORY_BANDWIDTH was never even added to the trace events.

Remove all the flags except cpu_dma_latency.

90ae409f9e dma-direct: fix zone selection after an unaddressable CMA allocation
The new dma_alloc_contiguous hides if we allocate CMA or regular
pages, and thus fails to retry a ZONE_NORMAL allocation if the CMA
allocation succeeds but isn't addressable. That means we either fail
outright or dip into a small zone that might not succeed either.

Thanks to Hillf Danton for debugging this issue.

e95656ea15 Input: add support for polling to input devices
Separating "normal" and "polled" input devices was a mistake, as often we
want to allow the very same device work on both interrupt-driven and
polled mode, depending on the board on which the device is used.

This introduces new APIs:

- input_setup_polling
- input_set_poll_interval
- input_set_min_poll_interval
- input_set_max_poll_interval

These new APIs allow switching an input device into polled mode with sysfs
attributes matching drivers using input_polled_dev APIs that will be
eventually removed.

There isn't any good reason to pass callbacks to migrate_vma. Instead
we can just export the three steps done by this function to drivers and

improve code flow and error handling further on.

c7d8b7824f hmm: use mmu_notifier_get/put for 'struct hmm'
This is a significant simplification, it eliminates all the remaining
'hmm' stuff in mm_struct, eliminates krefing along the critical notifier
paths, and takes away all the ugly locking and abuse of page_table_lock.

mmu_notifier_get() provides the single struct hmm per struct mm which
eliminates mm->hmm.

It also directly guarantees that no mmu_notifier op callback is callable
while concurrent free is possible, this eliminates all the krefs inside
the mmu_notifier callbacks.

The remaining krefs in the range code were overly cautious, drivers are
already not permitted to free the mirror while a range exists.
